Inside Out – “Sadness”

God puts boundaries on our behaviors, not our emotions.

Matthew 5:4 (The Voice) Blessed are those who mourn – they will be comforted

Happiness is more about a who than a what.

Sadness is more about a what than a who.

Psalm 42:11 Why am I so overwrought,Why am I so disturbed? Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will believe and praise the One who saves me, my God.

Sadness Has it’s Benefits:

1. It helps me mourn.

2. It helps me move.

3. It pushes me towards comfort.

Psalm 147:3 He binds their wounds, heals the sorrows of their hearts.

Sadness is when your heart is broken. Despair is when your hope is broken.

Proverbs 13:12 Hope postponed grieves the heart…

What do We do with Sadness?

1. Meet today’s problems with today’s strength

2. Hear Jesus say, “Me too!”

3. Remember that sadness is a pit stop, not a destination.

4. Don’t just bear your sadness…share your sadness!

Romans 12:15 If some have cause to celebrate, join in the celebration. And if others are weeping, join in that as well.

5. Fight off tomorrow’s despair with an eternal hope.

Psalm 34:17-18 When the upright need help and cry to the Eternal, He hears their cries and rescues them from all of their troubles. When someone is hurting or brokenhearted, the Eternal moves in close and revives him in his pain.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning no more, crying no more, pain no more, for the first things have gone away.
